Saindhav Movie Review:

Venkatesh, the beloved actor, joins forces with Sailesh Kolanu, the director of “HIT,” for the action drama “Saindhav.” This marks Venkatesh’s 75th film, featuring a star-studded cast including Nawazuddin Siddiqui in his Tollywood debut.

The story unfolds in the fictional city of Chandraprastha, focusing on Saindhav Koneru (Venkatesh), a crane operator in the customs department. When his daughter Gayathri is diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), Saindhav faces a daunting challenge to secure a 17-crore injection for her treatment. As his journey unfolds, it becomes intertwined with the dangerous world of Mitra (Mukesh Rishi), a cartel leader dealing in drugs and weapons.

The film’s strengths lie in Venkatesh’s powerhouse performance, with his compelling screen presence carrying the film from start to finish. The last half-hour delivers engaging action sequences, and the Bujjikondave song adds appeal. Nawazuddin Siddiqui attempts to infuse humor, providing sporadic laughs. The film also raises awareness about SMA and acknowledges the efforts of NGOs in battling genetic diseases.

However, the narrative falls short of expectations, with a slow and unexciting first half-hour and underdeveloped world-building. Despite a talented ensemble cast, including Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Andrea Jeremiah, Shraddha Srinath, and others, their characters lack impact due to weak scriptwriting. Logical errors in the storyline and a subpar background score by Santosh Narayanan further detract from the overall experience.

On the technical front, the production values are commendable, depicting the fictional city convincingly. Cinematographer S. Manikandan captures well-composed fight sequences, but the impact is hindered by the lackluster background score. While Venkatesh’s performance and a few emotional moments contribute to the film’s appeal, “Saindhav” ultimately falls short of delivering the necessary highs. Despite its flaws, it offers a decent watch, particularly for Venkatesh enthusiasts, but viewers are advised to temper their expectations.
