Akhanda Movie Review

Akhanda marks a much-awaited return of Balakrishna in a formidable role, and Boyapati Sreenu delivers a movie that caters primarily to his ardent fans. Balakrishna’s portrayal of both Murali Krishna and Akhanda showcases his versatile acting abilities, but it is the character of Akhanda that steals the show. As the Aghora, Balakrishna’s screen presence, intense dialogue delivery, and powerful expressions leave a lasting impact on the audience.

The film’s major strength lies in Thaman’s outstanding background score, elevating the movie’s action sequences and emotional moments to a whole new level. Additionally, Pragya Jaiswal shines in her well-defined role, making the most of the opportunity given to her. Kalakeya Prabhakar impresses as the ruthless cop, and Srikanth delivers a ferocious performance as the antagonist, although his screen time could have been more substantial.

The first half of the film is engaging, especially with the introduction of both Balakrishna’s characters. The movie is replete with fan moments, and the song “Jai Balayya” adds to the overall euphoria. The choreography of the fights is noteworthy, providing adrenaline-pumping moments for the fans.

However, the film falters in its second half. The lack of a compelling opposition to Akhanda weakens the novelty factor, and excessive focus on repetitive action sequences dampens the emotional impact. The emotional angle, particularly concerning the family and mother, feels forced at times.

In terms of storytelling, “Akhanda” adheres to the typical Boyapati style, prioritizing mass masala elements over intricate twists and turns. While this may delight hardcore fans, it could leave the class audience desiring more depth in the plot.
